The second time is not the charm for Saint Urban.
After nearly two years, the Scottsdale eatery and wine bar from chef and restaurateur Christopher Collins has closed. The McCormick Ranch restaurant will now host private events.
“As of September 28th, Saint Urban has transitioned to Saint Urban Private Dining Room, available for holiday parties, memorable events and life’s most important moments,” a statement provided by the restaurant group’s spokesperson said.
The abrupt closure came as a surprise to customers. Diners with reservations at Saint Urban were rebooked at one of Common Ground Culinary’s other Valley restaurants, which include The Macintosh, Collins Brothers Public House, Grassroots Kitchen & Tap, Wally’s American Gastropub, Sweet Provisions and The Neighborly.

Collins opened Saint Urban on Hayden and Royal Palm roads in November 2024 at a shopping center where his crew runs three of those restaurants. The sleek space offered 30 rotating wines and a shareable menu of raw bar bites, charcuterie boards and a mix of plates that ranged from wings to a 45-day-aged New York strip steak.
Two years prior, the restaurateur opened the similarly named St. Urban, a chic cocktail lounge with elevated bites, above The Neighborly in Phoenix in fall 2022. The design-forward upstairs haunt closed in June 2023, promising fans a “larger, stand-alone space.”
Saint Urban sourced most of its ingredients from West Coast purveyors.

Though these two sainted restaurants bore similar names, Collins told Phoenix New Times in 2024 the eatery had a “new menu and vibe. It’s different.” This new version of Saint Urban lasted longer than its predecessor, but ultimately also shuttered.
Collins and Common Ground Culinary continue to grow in the meantime. Collins debuted the multi-concept dining hub One Sixth inside the atrium of the Phoenix office building Bond in June and will bring a full-service smokehouse and raw bar, Cowboy Seafood, to midtown Phoenix later this fall.
Saint Urban’s space won’t be idle for long. During its next act, this “hidden gem” joins the restaurant group’s portfolio of event spaces, the statement said, noting, “Dates are already booking through the end of 2026 and into 2027.”
