When the strip mall she is now in was built around 2008, an Asian restaurant was one of the first tenants and it had an exclusive agreement with the property owner for restaurants offering Asian food, Fox said.
Hana Teppanyaki House was the most recent restaurant in the space.
Seabasil Thai & Seafood opened in mid-February off River Oaks Drive and has a grand opening celebration scheduled for Friday, March 27.

The entire interior of the restaurant has been rebuilt with the exception of the floor. The decor, bar, furniture and kitchen equipment are all new, with the construction and design overseen cooperatively by New Wave Renovations and McKeithan Design Studio based in Tennessee.
The menu features scallops, shrimp, clams, mahi mahi, salmon, flounder, seafood with drunken noodles, filet mignon and New York strip steaks.
Several seafood fusion specials include ‘Basil Mixed Seafood’ featuring shrimp, scallops and clams stir-fried with sweet chili sauce, garlic, bell peppers, onions, basil and a house sauce served with rice.
The menu also has traditional Thai meals including duck and stir-fried basil, appetizers, soups, hibachi plates, fried rice dishes, a kids’ menu, a traditional salad as well as larb and papaya salads, and desserts including coconut custard.

Specialty cocktails have Thailand-related names and themes.
One favorite will likely be a modified Old Fashioned-inspired drink featuring whisky, charcoal powder, lemon juice, house-made ginger and simple syrup, served with a flaming orange peel on the rim.
SeaBasil is also offering a selection of wines, hot and cold sakes, several bottled beers, and High Rise THC-infused fruit seltzers. Non-alcoholic drinks include bubble teas and several other teas.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11-10 Friday and Saturday, and 11-8 Sunday. It offers lunch combo specials and happy hour specials from 4-6:30 p.m.
