New Haven’s newest Japanese marketplace, The Loop Market By Hachiroku, opened last month — ushering in yet another Elm City establishment from the team behind Hachiroku.
Located at 20 George St., The Loop Market By Hachiroku advertises itself as a Japanese grocery store and neighborhood market that carries fish from Japan; has a dedicated Wagyu butcher and stocks specialty Japanese items like milk bread, bean cakes, Kuramoto Ice and egg sandwiches. The market is located at the Anthem Square 10 apartment complex.
While the The Loop on Orange Street does have its own wine bar, the new The Loop on George Street focuses on the grocery store element — offering a number of international items.
Japanese markets are not a new concept in the state, but the opening of The Loop Market By Hachiroku marks another addition to Connecticut’s growing Asian market scene that just welcomed Hartford’s Feng Marketplace in April.
