After 15 years near the Galleria, Chama Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse is expanding west with a new Katy location expected to open in mid-September.

The restaurant at 24205 Bella Katy Drive will be Chama Gaúcha’s second Houston-area location, giving Katy-area diners a closer alternative to its longtime Westheimer restaurant near the Galleria. It will take over a space formerly occupied by Doneraki Mexican Grill and is expected to open in mid-September.

Chama Gaúcha specializes in churrasco, a Brazilian style of barbecue featuring flame-roasted meats carved tableside, according to a company news release.

The restaurant serves beef, lamb, pork, chicken and Brazilian sausage as part of its churrasco service, along with a salad bar and sides including pão de queijo, fried polenta, mashed potatoes and caramelized bananas.

The Katy restaurant will also have five private dining rooms that can accommodate groups ranging from 20 to 150 people.

“We’ve welcomed many guests from Katy at our Westheimer location for so long that opening here has always been part of our vision,” manager Guilherme Da Silva said. “We’re excited to finally bring the Chama Gaúcha experience closer to home for those loyal guests while introducing our authentic Brazilian hospitality to those who live and work in the area.”
