A long-time Scarborough seafood restaurant has permanently closed its doors.
Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant, 165 Pine Point Road, Scarborough, opened in 1995 and has been a popular destination for fried whole belly clams, chowder, and other seafood items. The restaurant was started by Stanley Bayley and his wife Nancy and remained family-owned until its closing. Stanley Bayley died in 2021 and Nancy died in 2017.
The restaurant management in a late afternoon Facebook post on Thursday, Aug. 20, announced the restaurant was permanently closing that day.
The decision to close the restaurant was very difficult, and came after careful consideration, according to the social media post.
“This has been an incredibly meaningful chapter, and we are so grateful to everyone who supported us, shared a meal with us, celebrated with us, and made memories inside these walls. We are especially thankful for the friends and customers who continued to come through our doors and support us along the way,” stated the Facebook post.
