BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – City leaders helped the folks at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers cut the ribbon to officially mark the opening of their new location in Tuscaloosa.

It’s located on McFarland Boulevard, very close to DCH Regional Medical Center.

Company leaders said they’ve hired 160 employees. Hundreds attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including Big Al!

Mayor Walt Maddox gave a shout-out to property owner Robert Burkhalter and how that very spot was ravaged by the April 2011 tornado.

“Robert and I are both Idlewood boys. We grew up in the same area of Tuscaloosa, a working class area. I like to think we both know what it means to work hard. Let me tell you something – Robert Burkhalter worked hard. When we lost Wood Square in 2011, we had to rebuild our city block-by-block and Robert Buckhalter was there for Tuscaloosa and he continues to be here for us today,” said Mayor Maddox.
