SCARBOROUGH — Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant, which served customers in Scarborough since 1995, closed its doors permanently on Thursday.
The restaurant, which included both a sit-in area and a walk-up window, served homemade clam cakes, local haddock and lobster, chowder and other Maine classics. It was located at 165 Pine Point Road.
The owners announced the closure on social media on Thursday, saying the decision was difficult and that they were grateful for their customers and staff.
“This has been an incredibly meaningful chapter, and we are so grateful to everyone who supported us, shared a meal with us, celebrated with us, and made memories inside these walls,” the owners said in the social media post. “We are especially thankful for the friends and customers who continued to come through our doors and support us along the way.”
The post did not include any reasons as to why the restaurant closed.
In response to a comment on the post asking if better economic conditions could allow Bayley’s to open in the future, the restaurant responded that it was “possible.”
