After more than 16 years serving elevated street Thai food in Buckhead, Tuk Tuk Thai closed its doors on Aug. 2. In an Instagram video, Tuk Tuk’s chef DeeDee Niyomkul said, “It was a very hard decision for us, and I just want to say thank you to all of our esteemed guests and our friends and family that supported us through all those years.”
Niyomkul assured guests that Tuk Tuk was not disappearing completely. A few of its signature dishes and staff have transitioned over to Nan Thai Buckhead, its sister restaurant. Nan Thai will also feature special nights, such as a Tuk Tuk Tuesday.

The trend of upscale Mexican-inspired restaurants finding a home in Atlanta continues. Habaneros has opened its doors in Midtown’s Spring Quarter, with an aim to bring the essence of Mexico’s culinary and cultural heritage to North America. Urban street food meets traditional dishes in a Pan-Mexican dining experience that also focuses on presentation and high-energy vibes.
Habaneros features craft cocktails and dishes such as gorditas, ribeye poblano, and tacos with handmade tortillas, to name a few.
