SALEM – The Salem City Health District has confirmed that “critical food safety violations” were found during a routine health inspection of Sunny’s Chinese Restaurant in Salem.
During the August 24 inspection, the health district found food was being kept at “improper” temperatures; the health district also found issues with the restaurant’s preparation practices.
In a posted notice on the restaurant’s door, the health district stated that it must remain closed until the health department determines it is following the proper food safety measures and has corrected the violations.
The Salem City Health District stated in a Friday release that it will continue working to uphold their responsibility to ensure the health and safety of the community.
“Routine food safety inspections are an essential part of ensuring that food service establishments are following proper food handling, storage, and preparation practices,” the health district stated.
They also noted plans to continue monitoring the Chinese restaurant as it works through the compliance process.
