GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNEM) — The Ally Challenge is underway in Grand Blanc Township, with 78 PGA Tour Champions professionals competing for a $2.2 million purse at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club.
The event is bringing revenue to businesses in the area, including Irene’s Craft Kitchen and Biergarten.
Business sees increase in customers
Amy Hernandez, assistant general manager and event, sales and marketing manager at Irene’s, said the tournament has benefited the restaurant.
“We absolutely love having this golf tournament in Grand Blanc. We welcome all of the guests into Irene’s for the after parties and our live bands that we have here,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez said she’s seen a lot of golfers come in too.
“We’ve been seeing people come in, in their golf attire. We’ve seen some of the players come and enjoy Irene’s. And so it’s been great,” Hernandez said.
Fans support local businesses
Breanna McNamara traveled from Flushing to watch the PGA Tour Champions players. She said stopping at Irene’s was a way to end her day at the tournament.
“We absolutely love it. They’ve done a great job at this restaurant. And it’s nice to see the city booming,” McNamara said.
“They’ve got some specials today, and it’s a great atmosphere. They’ve got the range here, and you can see the extra golf. So it’s a lot of fun. And we got some golfers that came over after the round, so it’s kind of nice to be around the pros and see what they’re doing,” McNamara said.
Hernandez said the restaurant has more events planned for the weekend.
“We have live bands this evening, and Saturday and Sunday, so it should be a great weekend,” Hernandez said.
