The restaurant news came with “heavy hearts, after so many incredible years,” and the business sharing its “deepest gratitude” with the community.

As have so many Connecticut restaurants in recent years, the business shared its news of closing on social media, offering thanks and good wishes to all have shared its journey.

Tequila Escape, Ridgefield wrote, “Thank you for every dinner, every margarita, every celebration, every late night, every birthday, every toast, and every memory we shared along the way.”

Further, the business noted, “Most importantly, thank you for welcoming us into the Ridgefield community and allowing us to become a part of it.”

The business “started as three guys with a dream and the hope of creating something special became so much more than a restaurant,” according to the business.

“It became a place filled with friendships, celebrations, laughter, music, and memories that we will carry with us forever,” the post said. “While our doors may be closed, the relationships and memories created inside these walls will always remain.”

As is so often the case, as the news spread, customers lamented, some even calling it “my favorite place!!!” and adding an “oh no.

“Aww…   This used to be one of my favorite restaurants,” another customer noted on Facebook.

“I hate to see and hear this, phenomenal Restaurant it was!” wrote another.

Others said it was a place that built good memories along with the good food.

“One of my favorite restaurants! Lots of great memories,” a customer posted. “Everyone that worked there were always super kind. Angel and team, wishing you all the very best!  You will be missed!”

“Great memories there along with the margaritas and food. My son got a job at that location before some of the owners rebranded it to Tequila Escape. Such a fun place! Best of luck. You’ll be missed.”

Yet another customer thanked the venue for brightening the town.

“So many great memories to cherish each time I spent there! It was a magnificent place to meet up with friends! Everyone was always so incredibly kind that worked there! Thank you for the sunshine you brought to Ridgefield! I moved to SC 5 yrs ago but you will never be forgotten! Good luck in your quest for happiness.”

“What a shame, we really enjoyed the food, staff was amazing. We had plans to go last month but we changed plans. Sorry we missed it,” said another.

“A wonderful place to go on a date with my wife,” one man shared.

“That’s a super bummer! I think it was the only restaurant in Ridgefield that was open late to my knowledge,” a customer posted.

The venue appreciated all the support it got through the years.

“To our incredible guests, our neighbors, our staff (past and present) and everyone who supported us throughout this journey: thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” they shared.

“We opened our doors with a dream. We close them with infinite gratitude. Ridgefield, thank you for letting us be part of your community and your lives,” they wrote. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
With love and gratitude, Your Tequila Escape Family.”

Others suggested the site maybe should not be wasted.

“Wow! Ok let’s make it a nice sports bar now. A lot of tvs and food food. Nothing fancy.”

Or that the closure was a result of their not patronizing the establishment.

“We stopped going so they closed,” the former customer wrote.

But overwhelmingly the customers were simply thankful.

“Great memories this is where I met my great friends … and mi amigo …,” one shared.

“Such great memories at Tequila Escape! Thank you for everything,” another said.

“Thank you for the warmest welcomes always, Angel and team! Wishing you all the very best,” a customer shared.

“Ah, this was a favorite date night place. Thanks for creating a fun environment.”
