A Greeley barbecue restaurant closed its doors over the weekend and plans to reopen next spring in downtown Loveland.
Georgia Boys BBQ served the Greeley location’s last customers on Sunday. The restaurant opened in 2021 at 2473 W. 28th St. as the third location in northern Colorado.
The Longmont and Frederick locations will continue to operate as usual, according to a news release. The company hopes to open the Loveland location in late spring 2027.
“We’ve spent a great deal of time evaluating the future of our restaurant business, and while closing our Greeley location was not an easy decision, we believe it is the right move for the long-term success of Georgia Boys,” owners Matt Alexander and Nick Reckinger said in the release. “We’re incredibly grateful to our Greeley guests, our team members and the entire community for supporting us over the years. We have truly appreciated being part of the Greeley community.”
Georgia Boys cited the Greeley restaurant’s large footprint leading to operational challenges, and the proposed Loveland location will have a smaller footprint “designed to better support future growth.”
“This isn’t the end of Georgia Boys in northern Colorado. It’s a transition into what we believe is a stronger model for the future,” Alexander and Reckinger said in the release. “We’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to bringing Georgia Boys BBQ to downtown Loveland.”
