Sol’ Delish is bringing its soul food, seafood and American cuisine from Charlotte to Fort Mill.
Sol’ Delish Express should open by October at 400 N. Dobys Bridge Road in the Walmart Neighborhood Market shopping center, chef and co-owner Lattel Brice told The Herald on Wednesday. That’s the former Sweet Dough space, about a mile east of Main Street.
The restaurant has been open nearly four years in Charlotte. Sol’ Delish has a dine-in restaurant with a patio and boardwalk on JM Keynes Drive in University City, and a takeout space on North Tryon Street. The Fort Mill location will be similar to the takeout spot.
“Southern cuisine, seafood, all that stuff,” Brice said.

When co-owner Latell Brice and his business partner began looking to move from their tiny nearby space on North Tryon St. to a larger restaurant, they initially considered moving to Steele Creek. A former Charlotte City Council member encouraged them to stay in the University City area helping to connect them with an empty lakefront space at The Boardwalk.
The existing Sol’ Delish Express serves turkey and chicken wings, crab cakes, ribeye and seafood mac and cheese. There’s also fried or grilled shrimp and fish. Burgers, salads and appetizers are available, along with nearly a dozen sides like cornbread, greens and candied yams.
The dessert menu has sweet potato and five flavors of pound cakes, cheesecake peach cobbler and banana pudding.
The owners have plans to open additional sites in the region, but settled on Fort Mill due to demand.
“Just the opportunity of, a lot of people asked and wanted us to be out there,” Brice said. “Closer, still close to Charlotte but in South Carolina.”
Most Sol’ Delish Express entrees range in the $15 to $25 range. Customers can order online, by phone or through DoorDash. The existing restaurant is open daily for dinner, except Mondays. It opens at noon on weekends for lunch service, too.
