Brace yourselves, foodies! We’re just about ready to head into restaurant awards season, and one has already shared its long list.
The Chinese Restaurant Awards have just revealed their top 50 honourees from across Canada for 2026, and this year, two Calgary spots have made the cut.
The awards, which were founded in Vancouver in 2008, have shared their long list of honourees ahead of the inaugural Elite 30 Canada Awards, which are set to take place later this month.
Hitting the list of honourees once again is Calgary’s Master Beef Hot Pot. Famed for its Chinese hot pot, the restaurant uses local beef, sourcing meat directly from Alberta farms.
There were 12 new additions to the list this year, and one of those is Kingwell Roasted BBQ, a Cantonese BBQ restaurant in Sage Hill.
The Elite 30 Canada Awards have been curated by a panel of advisors, chaired by founding judge Lee Man, who is regarded as one of the most influential voices in Vancouver’s Chinese dining scene.
The panel is made up of 15 people with diverse backgrounds, including food writers, health-care professionals, finance professionals, and frequent diners, who will ultimately reveal the shortlist of 30 spots in a Vancouver ceremony on Sept. 23, 2026.
We love to see Calgary restaurants recognized for the stellar work they do, and here’s hoping to see at least one of YYC honourees crack the top 30.
