A new restaurant in Lancaster is generating buzz ahead of the city’s upcoming Restaurant Week.

Nori Taco, a local sushi taco and Asian fusion restaurant, opened in early August. Since then, owner Henry Shi says business has been booming, with customers traveling from outside the area to try the restaurant’s unique take on sushi.

“A lot of customers are telling us that they have to drive over an hour to get here, just to try our food,” Shi said. “They’re pretty happy with the food so far. We are really grateful for the people wanting to try our food.”

The restaurant was created with the goal of introducing Lancaster diners to a different way of eating sushi. Rather than serving sushi in traditional rolls, Nori Taco combines sushi ingredients with a taco-inspired presentation.

The restaurant’s concept was inspired from restaurants in South America, where raw fish served in a fried seaweed shell is popular. Nori Taco’s menu builds on that idea by combining elements of sushi, tacos and Asian fusion cuisine.

Restaurant Week will give Nori Taco another opportunity to introduce its menu to new customers. The annual event runs from Sept. 14 through Sept. 20 and features special offers from participating restaurants.

For Restaurant Week, Nori Taco plans to offer a two-for-one deal. $19.99 for two tacos with free appetizers.  The promotion is intended to encourage both returning customers and first-time visitors to experience the restaurant.

As interest continues to grow, Shi said the restaurant plans to focus on maintaining the quality and freshness of its food.

“We want to keep it fresh and prepare it every single day fresh for everybody who comes here,” Shi said.

With customers traveling from near and far and Restaurant Week approaching, Nori Taco is hoping its unique combination of sushi and tacos will continue to make an impression on Lancaster’s dining scene.
