Description: LongHorn Steakhouse is building its fifth metro area location in Pleasure Ridge Park.

Construction on the new restaurant has started, and a company spokesperson said it is expected to open in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027. The Dixie Highway location marks the fifth LongHorn Steakhouse in the Louisville metro area, with the other four located in Clarksville, Indiana; near Interstate 265 and Brownsboro Road; Jeffersontown; and Okolona.

“We’re thrilled to bring LongHorn Steakhouse to Louisville and can’t wait to serve guests fresh, never frozen, boldly seasoned and expertly grilled steaks,” a spokesperson said. “We’ve received outstanding support from the city.”

The new LongHorn Steakhouse is being built on the former Frisch’s Big Boy location after it was demolished in June.

In a May 27 Facebook post, Louisville Metro Councilman Jonathan Joseph, who represents District 12, acknowledged that the site holds memories for South End families but added that it is “exciting to see continued real time investment and momentum along the Dixie corridor.”

The development comes after LongHorn Steakhouse received a $173,000 grant as part of a financial incentive program designed to attract eateries to the area, city officials announced Feb. 10. Three other businesses along the Dixie Highway corridor – Crumbl Cookies, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and Derby City Pizza – also received grants.

The grants are from the $1 million Dixie Highway Restaurant Incentive Fund, which is part of the broader $3 million South End Loan and Incentive Fund to stimulate economic activity and improve South End neighborhoods.

“These investments create jobs, new places for families, friends, and neighbors to gather and new reasons for people to spend their time and dollars in the South End,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. “We’re delivering results that meet the needs of this community and we’re just getting started.”

Cost: Around $1,500,000, according to the Louisville Metro Business Portal.

Contractor: LongHorn Steakhouse did not comment on which contractor it is using. A permit filed with the city lists Derek Engineering as the licensed professional on the project.
