The state Health Department today said it issued a green placard to authorize the reopening of Waikoloa Restaurant & Bar on Hawaii island.
The reopening was actually authorized last Friday, two days after the restaurant was issued a red placard for a rodent infestation. During a follow-up inspection last Friday, a health inspector confirmed the restaurant had taken all corrective actions required.
The restaurant at 68-1790 Melia St. in Waikoloa Village is popularly known as Johnny’s Restaurant.
DOH required the restaurant to take the following corrective actions:
>> Discard all adulterated foods;
>> Seal all points of entry on perimeter walls and ceiling, replace or patch torn window screens, and keep kitchen doors closed when not in use;

>> Deep cleaning the facility and disinfection of contaminated surfaces;
>> Have a professional pest control operator assess/treat the facility for rodents.
Inspectors found no evidence of rats during the follow-up inspection.
