GROVEPORT, Ohio (WCMH) – A pizza box manufacturer, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and a local Italian restaurant are teaming up for a good cause.
Children fighting cancer, cancer survivors, and their families put on their chef’s hats and made pizzas at Little Italy Groveport on Wednesday, with proceeds going toward cancer research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Little Italy is one of 11 pizzerias across the country taking part in the fundraiser.
The owner of Pizza Bib, which makes decorative pizza boxes, said he is a cancer survivor and now he’s paying it forward.
“I can’t imagine what it’s like being a six-year-old or a ten-year-old having to face this disease, not knowing what it is and surviving,” Pizza Bib CEO Jamie Heal said. “So really, we wanted to bring them in so they could have some fun, learn how to make a pizza.”
Little Italy is donating 45% of every purchase of a large cheese or pepperoni pizza to support pediatric cancer research.
The fundraiser will continue through the end of the month and the pizza boxes will also include a QR code so customers can donate directly to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
