The manager of a neighbourhood Indian restaurant in Harborne has shared his joy after the restaurant was awarded an industry prize for excellence.
Harborne Indian Kitchen on Lordswood Road was given a Travellers’ Choice Award by TripAdvisor, which according to visitor reviews, places it in the top 100 restaurants in the entire city.
Harborne Indian Kitchen opened where Umami used to be in 2025 and has since been highly recommended by visitors.

One reviewer said that even during the hot summer heat, they made a beeline for the restaurant to celebrate a new job.
The diner, who reviews restaurants under the username ‘SLJW13’, wrote: “We were the crazy people going for a curry in the middle of a heatwave!
“The service was attentive, they surrounded us with fans and brought extra ice for our drinks.
“The food was insanely good.
“The smoked butter chicken an absolute highlight followed closely by the south Indian garlic chicken.
“Wow. Phenomenal.”

Restaurant manager Abdul Hoque said: “It has been an incredibly challenging summer for the hospitality industry, and maintaining the highest standards throughout such a difficult period has certainly not been easy.
“I’m therefore extremely happy and proud to share that Harborne Indian Kitchen has been awarded the prestigious TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award.
“This recognition means a great deal to the whole team and is a real testament to the hard work and dedication that goes into what we do.”
Abdul added that he hoped the recognition would encourage new visitors to bring ‘much-needed footfall back’ to both Harborne Indian Kitchen and the wider hospitality industry.
