Savvy Sliders restaurant coming to Joliet section of The Boulevard Place – Shaw Local

A slider restaurant with beef, chicken and falafel varieties is the latest eatery with plans to come to Joliet.

The City Council on Tuesday approved a drive-thru permit for Savvy Sliders.

The restaurant is planned for The Boulevard Place, the mixed-use center being developed on a site that straddles Joliet and Plainfield near the U.S. Route 30 interchange with Interstate 55.

A Savvy Sliders menu posted on the company website shows nine sandwiches, including Steakhouse and Fried Chicken sliders, chicken fingers and nuggets, crinkle fries with a variety of seasonings and custard shakes.

Savvy Sliders lists 34 locations, all in Michigan. But the website also shows eight future locations in Texas, Tennesee and Louisiana, as well as more in Michigan.

The future Joliet site is not listed on the website.

But the company plans to occupy a unit at 16301 Boulevard Place that was going to be a Starbucks, according to a staff memo to the council.

The city previously approved a drive-thru permit for the Starbucks, which was never built. Savvy Sliders will use the same drive-thru plan proposed by Starbucks, according to the staff memo.

The Boulevard Place has attracted several restaurants.

A Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant is located on the Plainfield side. The Joliet section includes an Olive Garden Italian Restaurant and a Longhorn Steakhouse.

Joliet last month approved liquor licenses for two restaurants planned for The Boulevard Place: BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse and Angelita’s Mexican Bar and Cuisine.
