The location closed permanently last week.
Dick’s Wings & Grill has closed its State Road 16 restaurant in St. Augustine, marking the chain’s second recent departure from St. Johns County.
The location served its final customers after lunch Friday, Sept. 18, according to an announcement shared by another local Dick’s Wings franchisee.
A handwritten note posted on the restaurant’s door attributed the closure to the owner’s family relocating.
“We will be closing 9/18 permanently as my family is relocating,” the note read. “I want you to thank all of you for the support over the years. This city and restaurant will hold a special place in my heart forever.”
The message was signed “James.”
A separate social-media announcement described the closure as “a fond farewell to SR 16” and congratulated the franchisee after “many years of serving St. Augustine.”
The State Road 16 location is the second Dick’s Wings restaurant to close recently in St. Johns County. The chain’s former Nocatee restaurant shut its doors earlier this year.

Asado Life, an Argentine-inspired restaurant known for live-fire cooking, plans to take over the former Dick’s Wings space in Nocatee Town Center.
The latest closure does not mean Dick’s Wings is leaving the St. Augustine area entirely.
The independently operated Dick’s Wings & Grill on U.S. 1 South remains fully operational.
The franchisee invited displaced customers to visit that full-service restaurant.
Founded in Jacksonville in 1994, Dick’s Wings is known for chicken wings served with an extensive selection of sauces, along with burgers, sandwiches and other sports-bar fare.
