Colombian gastronomy received new international recognition in 2026, with Bogota’s Pizzardi Artigianale ranking 17th in the 50 Top Pizza World ranking, which recognizes some of the best pizzerias worldwide. The results were announced at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples, Italy, a city closely associated with the tradition of Neapolitan pizza.
The recognition marks a milestone for Colombia, as Pizzardi Artigianale became the first pizzeria in the country to enter the ranking’s global Top 100. The Bogota establishment shared 17th place with QT Pizza Bar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in an edition featuring pizzerias from around the world.
The result also builds on the international recognition the pizzeria has received since opening in Bogota. Founded by Andrea Bornacelli and Alejandro Sardi, Pizzardi has developed a concept centered on Neapolitan pizza and techniques and ingredients associated with Italian tradition.
Pizzardi Artigianale among the world’s best pizzerias
Pizzardi Artigianale’s culinary concept seeks to preserve the principles of traditional Neapolitan pizza. The restaurant is certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional characteristics of this style of pizza.
Among the ingredients used in its pizzas are San Marzano tomatoes, Italian cheeses with protected designations of origin, and protected extra virgin olive oil. The restaurant also uses a dough-making process that includes extended maturation periods.
According to information provided about the establishment, the dough can mature for up to 48 hours, while the pizzas are cooked in ovens at approximately 400 degrees Celsius for around 90 seconds. The process is intended to produce the characteristic texture of Neapolitan pizza, with well-developed edges and a thinner center.
Pizzardi Artigianale began operations in Bogota in 2023 and currently has two locations in the northern part of the capital, as well as kitchens dedicated to delivery services. Its growth comes as Bogota continues to strengthen its reputation as a culinary destination offering both Colombian cuisine and international concepts.
The recognition is also connected to the career of co-founder Andrea Bornacelli, who was appointed an AVPN brand ambassador in Colombia, becoming the first Latin American woman to receive the distinction from the organization.
From Latin American recognition to 17th in the world
Pizzardi Artigianale’s appearance in the global ranking follows several other recognitions earned during its relatively short history. In the 2026 edition of 50 Top Pizza Latin America, the pizzeria ranked third, making it the highest-ranked Colombian establishment in the regional classification.
It also received the Performance of the Year 2026 award, recognizing its performance and consistency. In 2025, the establishment received the Best International Pizza Maker award at the Pizza DOC Awards in Naples, becoming the first Colombian restaurant to receive the honor.
Its international rise had begun earlier with the New Entry of the Year 2025 award following its debut in the Latin American ranking. The succession of honors has helped increase the visibility of Pizzardi Artigianale beyond Colombia and establish the Bogota pizzeria on the international stage.
