Some businesses and restaurants were still without water Wednesday morning after a water pipe burst, flooding some streets in downtown and Seaport Village.
The water main break occurred Tuesday afternoon in front of Eddie V’s Prime Seafood Restaurant on West Harbor Drive after a 16-inch water pipe failed and burst, according to the city, flooding some nearby downtown streets.
A large hole could be seen where crews have been working on fixing the burst pipe. It was not immediately clear what caused the pipe to burst.
As of Wednesday morning, West Harbor Drive reopened in both directions while Pacific Highway remained closed as crews continued to clean and repair the roadway. Drivers could still access Seaport Village using Kettner Drive, according to the city.
Water service is expected to be restored Wednesday at 6 p.m.

An underground pipe burst, impacting several businesses and streets in Seaport Village. NBC 7’s Omari Fleming has more details from the scene.
Restaurants Eddie V’s, Puesto and The Cheesecake Factory were shut down. A hostess at The Cheesecake Factory told NBC 7 Tuesday they had no water in their bathrooms.
No homes nor hotels in the area lost water, city officials said.
The closures interrupted Daniel Trinh’s birthday dinner plans, as well as Helen Waisley’s spa day.
“I really wanted oysters,” Trinh said. “We came down here, we saw all this chaos, and said, ‘Oh no, this is bad.’ Yeah, they’re not open, so kind of disappointed.”
“Nail salon didn’t have water to wash our hands, so it’s bad. What do I do now? Go home and drink my own wine,” Waisley said.
