While other barbecue chains are filing for bankruptcy, Puckett’s Restaurant is pushing forward despite closing two locations.

The closures for the well-known Southern barbecue chain are amid a challenging economic environment.

Those locations that went dark are in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Cullman, Alabama, according to a statement from owner A. Marshall Hospitality.

The company has not filed for bankruptcy.

“With these closings, we will be focusing on strengthening our operations and committing to the neighborhoods where we have the most longstanding relationships,” the company CEO Claire Crowell shared in a statement. “As a family business, we are always aware of how our decisions made today impact the next generation, and we take that responsibility seriously.”

“While growth may not be our current focus, we are always looking ahead and making thoughtful decisions so that Puckett’s will have a strong and sustainable future,” Crowell added. .

Those locations were shuttered on Sept. 18 due to “a result of economic pressures and a strategic look at how to best position the brand for long term success,” according to the company statement.

Record-high beef prices may also be a factor. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, ground beef prices reached $7.16 per pound in August, which was a 7.9% increase year over year.

That’s more than double the overall annual inflation rate of 3.4% and nearly triple the rate for food overall, WTTW reported.

As of now, six other Puckett locations are in operation in Chattanooga, Columbia, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Nashville and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The chain also operates high-end steakhouse Deacon’s New South in downtown Nashville and Scout’s Pub in Franklin, Tennessee, TheStreet reported.

Planned events at the Hendersonville location will be honored at other Puckett’s restaurants. Gift cards, which have no expiration date, will be accepted at any A. Marshall Hospitality restaurant.
