As a longtime Swiftie, I’ve always loved hearing Taylor Swift’s dreamy songs about cities like New York, London, Los Angeles, and Paris. One place I (admittedly) never thought she’d be writing about is Cleveland, Ohio.
Alas, her new “The Life of a Showgirl: Encore” album includes a song boldly titled “Cleveland!” — that yes, is indeed a sweet nod to her husband’s Ohio roots (and somehow, also her haters).
“He already took me to Cleveland, and showed me The Heights, so hate all you like,” Swift belts out in the chorus of the song.
The catchy tune is a classic Swiftian beat, featuring the pop star’s signature, self-deprecating humor mixed with a loved-up “London Boy”-esque charm. It’s also a cheeky tribute to the hometown of her beau, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
If Cleveland, Ohio wasn’t already at the top of your travel bucket list, it definitely will be after listening to Swift’s catchy cosign — and reading about all there is to do there.
