Jucys Taco in Tyler closes after two years

After a two-year run in Tyler, Jucys Taco is officially closing its doors on Friday, Sept. 25.

A store representative cited a combination of lower-than-expected sales volume and an inherently challenging location as the primary driving factors behind the decision.

The restaurant first opened in early October 2024 at 2701 Old Henderson Highway. As a Tex-Mex spinoff of the beloved East Texas Jucys Hamburgers franchise — which launched in Longview in 1980 — it quickly became known for its variety of burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, salads and popular “Taco Bar” catering setups.

The brand has previously shifted its taco footprint in other parts of East Texas. Jucys Taco operated a Palestine location from 2020 until its closure and converted into a burger storefront in 2023. A Henderson location also operated from 2019 until mid-2025, when that property was similarly replaced by a Jucys Hamburgers. 

While the closure marks the end of the brand’s taco concept in Tyler, management emphasized that the company is continuing to look out for its workforce. A representative shared that the company is “taking good care of their employees,” with many staff members from the Old Henderson Highway location transitioning into open roles at neighboring Jucys Hamburgers restaurants. 

Fans of the Tex-Mex spinoff can still find Jucys Taco operating its other four East Texas locations, which include a Marshall storefront on 2109 Victory Dr., as well as three spots in Longview: 2609 Judson Rd., 1470 W. Marshall Ave., and 4002 Estes Pkwy.
