The mystery is over: Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille has finally revealed when Houstonians can get their hands on a 79-cent pork chop.
Perry’s Flashback Friday promotion will return Friday, Oct. 2, bringing 1979 prices to all six of the steakhouse’s Houston-area locations, the restaurant announced. The restaurant had previously announced the deal but kept the date under wraps.

Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, and the first 200 people in line at each restaurant will receive a card to buy one of two lunches for 79 cents.
Half of the cards will be good for Perry’s Famous Pork Chop Friday Lunch, which comes with whipped potatoes, applesauce and bread. The other 100 vouchers will offer 79-cent Caramelized Prime Rib Steak Sandwich, served with french fries and horseradish cream.
The 79-cent price is a nod to 1979, when Perry’s got its start as a small Houston butcher shop before growing into a steakhouse chain with locations across Texas and several other states.
The promotion is dine-in only, limited to guests 21 and older and available only to the first 200 diners in line at each location.
Perry’s has six Houston-area restaurants, including locations in Katy, Sugar Land, Friendswood, The Woodlands and two in Houston.

The Flashback Friday promotion expands on Perry’s regular Friday lunch tradition. The steakhouse typically serves its pork chop lunch and prime rib sandwich on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. – just not for 79 cents.
