The owner of a longtime seafood restaurant on Cape Cod announced on social media that he’s putting his eatery on Route 6 up for sale.
Nick Nickerson, the owner of Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar in Eastham, shared the news on Facebook on Sept. 13.
“After 50 wonderful and successful years, the time has come for me to sell Arnolds Lobster and Clam Bar,” Nickerson wrote on Facebook. “It is difficult to put into words what Arnolds has meant to me and my family. What began as Arnolds Drive-In grew into something far greater than I ever imagined, and that would never have happened without our loyal customers and dedicated employees.”
Nickerson expressed gratitude to the generations of patrons who’ve visited Arnold’s over the years.
“To our customers: thank you for returning year after year bringing your children and grandchildren, making Arnolds part of your Cape Cod tradition,” Nickerson wrote. “Your friendship, encouragement and loyalty have meant more to me than you’ll ever know.
Nickerson also thanked his employees.
“To my employees past and present: thank you for your hard work, patience, loyalty, and friendship,” Nickerson wrote. “Some of you have been with me for much of this incredible journey. You stood beside me through the busiest summer days, long lines and all the pressures that come with serving the public. Arnold’s success belongs to you as much as it does anyone.”
Nickerson said he’s been “blessed beyond measure.”
“Although this is the end of an extraordinary chapter for me, the memories and friendships I have made will remain in my heart forever,” he wrote. “Thank you for 50 unforgettable years.”
