Austin’s Top 5 finish came amid WalletHub’s analysis of more than 180 cities across the United States, evaluating a host of factors including the affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants, food festivals per capita, cost of groceries and more. While it was the only Lone Star city to crack the Top 10, fellow Texas powerhouses Houston and San Antonio joined the mix at No. 13 and No. 18, respectively.

In a statement to MySA, the Texas Restaurant Association’s chief marketing officer, Tony Abruscato, sang praise to the Texas capital’s array of culinary experiences and the talented teams behind them.
“Austin’s recognition as the No. 5 foodie city in America is well deserved and reflects what Texans already know: our state is home to one of the most dynamic restaurant communities in the country,” Abruscato said in the statement. “Austin’s success is driven by local restaurateurs, chefs, entrepreneurs and hospitality teams who blend Texas traditions with global influences and bold new ideas.”
Abruscato also paid tribute to Houston and San Antonio’s Top 20 finishes, reiterating these rankings are “a credit to the hardworking people” at Lone Star restaurants who have made the state a culinary and hospitality destination.
