Fort Myers leaders are accepting proposals until 2 p.m. Friday for a restaurant operator at McCollum Hall, a historic building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

City leaders decided to move forward with plans for the future of McCollum Hall back in May. The goal is to create a year-round destination for live music, cultural events, education and community programs.

The restaurant is planned to have 160 seats, and applicants will be evaluated based on experience, concept quality, financial feasibility and other criteria. The Community Redevelopment Agency is seeking someone who can operate the restaurant as a high-quality and financially sustainable establishment that honors the cultural legacy of McCollum Hall.

The CRA is also accepting proposals for performing arts projects, with those applications due by Oct. 6.
