This is just one of many events happening this weekend in Birmingham. Keep scrolling for our Weekend Events Guide.

You’re sure to find crowds — and really great food — at the Birmingham Greek Festival, now in its 53rd year. It’s one of the city’s most popular fall festivals, drawing lots of fans to Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 307 19th St. South.

The menu for this year’s event, set for Oct. 1-3, features Greek chicken, pastichio (or Greek lasagna), marinated lamb, stuffed grape leaves, gyro sandwiches, Greek salads, combo plates and lots of scrumptious desserts. Greek coffee and a Greek frappe (an iced coffee drink) are on the agenda, as well.

Folks who want to burn off calories can dance to Greek music from the Nick Trivelas Band, take a tour of the lovely cathedral or shop in the outdoor marketplace. See a full schedule for the outdoor stage here.

Hours for the Birmingham Greek Festival are 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Admission is free, and menu items range from $4 to $45.
