A new Mexican restaurant on East Main Street kicked off October with open doors.
Ochoa Mexican Grill officially opened over the weekend at 113 E. Main St. The restaurant features authentic Mexican cuisine and is the latest from co-owner Brad Hobbs, who manages multiple restaurants throughout Columbus.
The menu offers classics like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, fajitas and birria. Some featured specials include Chile Relleno, Chimichanga, Fish Tacos and Enchiladas. Soups and salads are also available, like the Ensalada Ochoa and Barbacoa Brisket Chili.
“I’m really excited about the food; I think our team has done a fantastic menu,” Hobbs said. “I just really want to get people in here to experience it.”
Dishes listed clockwise from top left: Taco Salad, Fish Tacos, Tres Leches Cake, Chimichanga
As for drinks, the menu offers beer and wine, as well as cocktails like the Paloma and a Tequila Espresso Martini. Some featured margaritas include a Spicy Passionfruit and Watermelon Basil.
Pecan Penny’s, also owned by Hobbs, was the former inhabitant of the space before its closure in October of 2025. Additional concepts co-owned by Hobbs in operation are The Olde Towne Tavern, Osteria Pizzeria and The Walrus Kitchen & Public House.
Ochoa can accommodate roughly 135 people inside and outside. The restaurant’s front patio is full service, whereas the back patio is more of a place to hang out after dinner with some drinks or appetizers. Both patios feature firepits.
Most of the changes to the space have been aesthetic. They added a fence and greenery on the front patio for more privacy, and Hobbs said it seems cozier than before.
Ochoa Mexican Grill is located at 113 E. Main St. and is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
