Rreal Tacos opened its doors today, Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 808 N Franklin St. in Downtown Tampa. This Mexican restaurant started in Atlanta. It stays open from 11 a.m. to midnight every day, though Sunday closing comes an hour early, at 11 p.m.

The space once belonged to Haiku. Over a three-day friends-and-family soft opening this past weekend, the new tenant picked up nearly 200 five-star Google reviews, according to That’s So Tampa.

Tables can be booked through OpenTable. Once the opening-week crowds thin out, most guests likely won’t bother.

Tampa is the 13th Rreal Tacos location. Next up is Downtown St. Pete in 2027, inside the old Red Mesa Cantina building, which starts the chain’s push across the region.

The kitchen focuses on street tacos built on handmade tortillas. Each one stands for a different part of Mexico, and the staff buys ingredients from those places when they can. Diners will also find appetizers, quesadillas, burritos, bowls, and birria.

Prices stay low and the food stays simple. Some notable menu picks include guacamole made at the table, birria pizzas, and a full kids menu. Several gluten-free and vegetarian dishes are listed too. A combo of two tacos with rice and beans costs $10.

The bar offers a robust margarita menu, and any drink can come as a pitcher. One choice is a 64-ounce Hennessy Margarita.
