The founders of The District SPR restaurant in Jacksonville’s Springfield neighborhood are planning to open another dining establishment next door.
The group wants to convert a single-family structure at 2030 Walnut St. into a restaurant, according to project documents from the city of Jacksonville. The one-story building is in an area zoned light industrial and neighbors The District SPR at 2026 Walnut St.
The District SPR, which the business website says was established in 2020, describes its menu as “New American cuisine with Southern (and) global influences.”
The second restaurant is described as a 913-square-foot fine dining restaurant with 24 outdoor seats, according to the mobility fee calculation certification application with the city.
Jorge Gonzalez, one of the business partners in the project, said there is an existing parking lot nearby that customers will be able to use.
Details are still being worked out for the restaurant, including the opening schedule, Gonzalez said.
“It’s going to be a speakeasy style space, probably open Thursday, Friday, Saturday,” he said.
While the restaurant will be accessible from The District SPR property, it will be marketed as its own space, he said
