First Watch, a publicly owned chain of 665 daytime dining restaurants, plans to open in Joliet.

The breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant will open in The Boulevard Place, the mixed-use center that straddles Joliet and Plainfield near the Interstate 55 interchange at U.S. 30.

The Joliet City Council this month approved a liquor license for a First Watch restaurant to open at 16319 S. Boulevard Place in a multi-tenant building.

The Joliet restaurant is part of the Pennsylvania-based company’s expansion. According to a quarterly report to investors, First Watch opened 18 restaurants in 15 states in the second quarter.

First Watch has nine restaurants in the Chicago area, including locations in Geneva, Naperville and Orland Park.

An entryway sign at The Boulevard Place lists some of the businesses at the mixed use center located on a site in both Joliet and Plainfield at the interchange of Interstate 55 and U.S. 30. Aug. 3, 2026
