PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – To celebrate National Pizza month, DoorDash released its second-annual Battle of the Slices list — highlighting the best small-and medium-sized pizzerias across the United States.

“What I love about pizza is how local it is. Every neighborhood has a spot people are fiercely loyal to,” said Ruth Isenstadt, Head of U.S. Restaurants at DoorDash. “This list celebrates the restaurants that earn that loyalty order after order, and the people behind them who keep finding ways to make a familiar favorite their own. We’re proud to shine a light on some of those local standouts across the country.”

The list includes two pizza places in Portland.

To compile the list, DoorDash analyzed nearly 30 million pizza orders from 2025 to see the top trends. According to DoorDash, pepperoni is America’s most-ordered pizza topping followed by onions and sausage.

According to DoorDash, “carmelized onions are having a moment,” noting pizza orders with onions are up more than 120% year-over-year.

Meanwhile, pineapple toppings beat olives, bacon, chicken and ham, DoorDash said.
