Denver is quickly becoming one of the hottest places to dine out in the U.S. thanks to its Michelin-starred restaurants, a stalwart steakhouse and a new Italian joint where it’s nearly impossible to snag a reservation.
That’s according to the dining reservation provider OpenTable, which released its list of the Top 100 Restaurants in America on Wednesday. The company generated the list by scouring more than 11 million reviews from verified OpenTable diners and dining metrics, such as ratings, the percentage of five-star reviews, the percentage of reservations made in advance, the percentage of capacity, and the number of direct searches.
There is one caveat: The list only includes eateries that use OpenTable as their reservation provider. So spots that use another service, such as Resy, weren’t considered.
OpenTable’s list isn’t ranked, but the Mile High City was deemed “on the rise” nationally for having a noteworthy number of places make the cut. In all, seven restaurants were named among the Top 100 — the same amount as the entire state of Texas. That number is up from five restaurants one year ago.
Those named among the best in the U.S. feature a collection of Michelin-starred restaurants, including three of chef Johnny Curiel’s concepts — Alma Fonda Fina, Mezcaleria Alma, and Milpero — and The Wolf’s Tailor, Colorado’s only two-star establishment. Alteño, another one of Curiel’s eateries, made the cut as well. (While it is not Michelin-starred, Alteño is Michelin-recommended.)
Rounding out OpenTable’s Top 100 are Guard & Grace, the 12-year-old steakhouse from chef Troy Guard that repeatedly makes national “best of” lists, and Florence Supper Club, a buzzy newcomer to Denver’s dining scene that specializes in Italian fare and consistently ranks among the toughest reservations to get in the city.
