The Northwest is home to a diverse, often boundary-pushing food scene — and this summer is seeing several outdoor celebrations commemorating the best of what it has to offer. Here are three food-related festivals in July that we’re especially looking forward to.
Washington State Hot Sauce Festival
Hosted by Puyallup’s McMillin Farm Collective, July 25-26’s sixth annual Washington State Hot Sauce Festival is a showcase for exactly what its title suggests: the Northwest’s finest hot sauces, which attendees will have plenty of opportunities to sample.
Savor Fest PNW
This year’s edition of Savor Fest PNW — set for noon to 5 p.m. on July 19 in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood — will feature its now-trademark blend of multicultural cuisine and live entertainment. Put on in collaboration with Mi Centro, this is the sixth year the festival has taken over the neighborhood.
South Sound BBQ Festival
South Sounders with an appetite for barbecue needn’t look much further than Lacey’s South Sound BBQ Festival, an area staple with a wide range of vendors dishing up the titular style of food. This slow-cooked event kicks off its festivities from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 11 at Huntamer Park. Participating eateries and live entertainment hadn’t yet been confirmed as of press time, but confirmed happenings include a chicken wing-eating contest and free activities for kids.
