Within the center of the project will be an ice skating rink, summer play areas, water features, fire pits, a large-format screen, an amphitheater and restaurants. There will also be a six-acre lake, Pierson Companies said.

“Waukee Towne Center is designed to be more than just a shopping trip; it’s a destination for the entire family,” said Mike Pierson, owner and president of Pierson Companies.

The center is already active with Target, what Pierson Companies calls its “primary anchor,” though upcoming phases of development will include national and local businesses. A mix of apparel, specialty and wellness and personal care businesses to compliment the active lifestyle of Waukee, the developer said.

Pierson Companies also shared some of the new stores and restaurants will be the businesses’ first location in Iowa.

“This project will help shape not only how this corridor grows, but how people experience it,” said Mayor Courtney Clarke. “We’re proud to partner on a vibrant space that brings people together and reinforces Waukee’s standing as a destination for investment, visitors and opportunity.”
