WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD News) — USDA Undersecretary Luke Lindberg has been appointed to lead the United Nations World Food Program.
Lindberg will step down from his position at USDA and move to Rome, where he will serve a five-year term in his new role.
The Eleanor Crook Foundation praised the appointment, noting it comes as more than 300 million people around the world face acute food insecurity.
There is no word yet on when Lindberg will leave USDA.

Producers will have access to the modernized platform for fall-seeded crops.
