MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Montgomery County Health Department has released information on a restaurant that it forced to close after failing a recent health inspection.
WSFA 12 News learned that Marisqueria Ramirez, a Mexican restaurant located on Mount Meigs Road, received a health rating score of 57 out of 100.
The health department cited a number of issues that prompted closure. Those priority items included:
“Adulterated” ice and paprika. Several pieces of produce were moldy in a reach-in cooler.Refried beans and beef were between 109 and 119 degrees Fahrenheit in a crockpot and on a stove.Tomatoes, chicken and fish were 49 degrees in a walk-in cooler.Cooked food items in a reach-in cooler were not properly dated.The ice machine contained mold.The establishment was using broken fryer baskets. Dirty dishes were stored with clean dishes after being washed.A kitchen sink did not have paper towels and was used for purposes other than washing hands.Flies and roaches were observed in the establishment.
Restaurants that score below a 60 are required to close, according to the health department. It can reopen after a reinspection determines the facility meets all health code requirements.
Marisqueria Ramirez was closed on June 17. A reopen date is not clear, but reinspection was scheduled for Tuesday.
