BENTON, Kan. (KWCH) — The Benton Police Department is investigating an alleged battery that took place at Stearman Field Bar and Grill on Friday.

The investigation began after a customer posted about an experience she had at the restaurant while celebrating her two-year-old daughter’s birthday.

The woman said a server brought out an ice cream cup with a candle for her daughter to blow out. She said that while her daughter was attempting to blow out the candle, a man approached the child, kissed her on the cheek and blew out the birthday candle himself.

Although not on video, the woman claims the man tried to touch her daughter her again but she stopped him and after exchanging some vulgarities he left.

“Our team strives to be a part of the community that provides good food & service at reasonable pricing every day.
