CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Charlotte Restaurant Week, also known as the Queen’s Feast, is off the a great start at The Smoke Pit off of Providence Road.

“As soon as we opened the doors, we had people asking for the Queen’s Feast,” said manager Hannah Cripe.

The 10-day event from July 24 to August 2 features over 120 restaurants in Charlotte and nine local counties offering fixed price meals from $30 to $55. The other time it’s held is in January.

“This was one of the places that we’ve never been to. We knew it was a new location, so we decided to try it,” said diner Larry Watts. “As you can see from our plates we couldn’t eat it all.”

The barbeque bonanza is welcome to not just hungry Charlotteans, but to Cripe, who has lofty goals for profits.

This location of The Smoke Pit makes about $20,000 per day.

“Summer is typically the slowest time of the year for us,” she said. “I’m hoping we can make anywhere from a couple extra thousand to ten thousand dollars a day.”

Another boost for the business, which opened in September, is helping get staff acclimated to a faster pace of service ahead of the busier fall and holiday seasons.

“Getting the flow of the restaurant picked back up and getting everyone up to speed to prepare for those busier times. I have a really great group here. They work hard and like to come to work. I have a great feeling everyday that I made that environment for them,” said Cripe.
