RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Heart to Table is a monthly mobile food distribution serving Rapid City-area community members who may be struggling with food insecurity.
South Dakota ranks among the top five states for food insecurity, with a 9.5% rate—meaning roughly 1 in 10 households may be uncertain about having enough food at some point during the year.
Heart to Table welcomes community members every Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., working to connect people with food and resources.
“The cost of ground beef for like 2 pounds is minimum wage, so it’s really hard,” said Kimberly Wallace, volunteer with Heart to Table. “And we’re really lucky and blessed that we have other churches that support us, our congregation supports us, and then we have the support of Feeding South Dakota too, so we’re able to be one of their registered pantries.”
