SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) – Brookshire Brothers has announced that its grocery store and fueling station in Sulphur will officially close on May 23, 2026.
“Serving the Sulphur community has meant so much to us,” said John Alston, President and CEO of Brookshire Brothers. “We are sincerely thankful to the residents who welcomed us into their lives and allowed us to be part of their community for so many years.”
The company also reflected on the City of Sulphur during Hurricane Laura and how team members brought food and water to residents impacted by the storm.
“We will always remember the strength and perseverance shown by the Sulphur community after Hurricane Laura,” Alston said. “It was an honor to support our neighbors during that time.”

For many years, Brookshire Brothers has proudly served the Sulphur community and surrounding areas, providing groceries, fuel and support to local families. Company leaders expressed deep gratitude to customers, employees and community partners who have supported the store throughout its time in Sulphur.
The company is working closely with employees throughout the transition process and appreciates their dedication and service to customers over the years. All employees have been offered positions within the company.
Customers are encouraged to visit the store prior to May 23 as remaining inventory is sold.
Brookshire Brothers thanks the Sulphur community again for the opportunity to serve them and wishes the area continued success in the years ahead.
