WEST ASHLEY S.C. (WCIV) — A woman was arrested after a physical altercation at the Harris Teeter on Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley over the weekend.

Officers were dispatched Saturday evening after a reported disturbance at the grocery store. When police arrived, they immediately encountered the alleged offender, identified as Alexis Washington, and an assistant store manager, Lori Reynolds, who both started yelling at the officer, trying to explain their side of the story, the incident report states.
Police first spoke to Washington, who claimed she was trying to do an Uber Eats order at the self-checkout. The victim was trying to get her to move out of the line because she was messing up the scans, said Washington, who then explained that she struck the victim because “she was all up in her business,” leading officers to detain her, according to the incident report.
Officers later obtained CCTV footage of the incident, which portrayed Washington slapping the victim in the hand at the self-checkout and throwing multiple grocery items at the victim, who was later identified as Shawishi Tartt.
Police concluded Washington was the primary aggressor, and she was then placed in a CPD cruiser and read her Miranda rights.
Washington was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center, where she was charged with assault and battery in the 3rd degree.
