One restaurant in the Tennessee Valley had to throw out four pounds of salsa with mold in it, while another was forced to close during the inspection because of a broken fridge holding food at unsafe temperatures.
The health inspector found a four-week-old spinach pie still being served to guests, as well as pork and rice more than one week old still being stored for service. The report says an employee was handling raw seafood with contaminated gloves, then proceeded to prepare food. The inspector says routine sanitization was not up to standard. The report notes flies in the kitchen, cleaning cloths not stored in sanitizer, and no sanitizer in the dishwasher.
This restaurant closed for an “imminent health hazard” after the inspector found the fridge to be cooling at an unsafe temperature while displaying the wrong temperature. The person in charge left to buy a new fridge. The inspector also found employees not washing their hands while changing gloves, and an unlabeled bottle of oil.
Four pounds of salsa were found with mold spreading in the container, and had to be thrown out. Sliced tomatoes, coleslaw, and ham were being held at unsafe temperatures. On a rack, there were dented cans of food, including spaghetti sauce and diced tomatoes. The report noted the restaurant to have unclean walls, ceiling, and floors.
The report stated that uncovered chicken was cross-contaminated with uncovered sausage. Cooled food items like rice, sour cream, hot dogs, and bologna were being held at an unsafe temperature in a large cooler. Containers of raw shell eggs were stored on top of other food items in the cooler. The health inspector stated there was a damaged bucket holding potatoes, as well as a bag of onions left on the floor.
