After becoming a social media star, Judy Wang has been looking to expand her restaurant to cities other than Galesburg. Judy’s Family Cafe opened on Friday in Aledo, at 1600 SE 3rd St.

“We are super excited to be part of this community,” said Wang. “Our goal is very simple: Make great food and good service and bring more jobs for the nice town.”

Judy Wang has sought a new location for nearly two years. But the remodel of the original location took too much time away to focus on expansion. At the opening on Friday, the community packed the restaurant with excitement for the cafe’s famous pancakes.

“We were very excited to know that she already had owned this building in Aledo, and it was a Mexican restaurant at the time, and for he rto want to switch it over and now serve breakfast,” said Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch. “We’re pretty ecstatic about it as you can see today,” he told Our Quad Cities News.

This new Judy’s cafe has the same menu and vibe as the original, giving it potential to bring people into town.

“A destination that’s 45 minutes from the Quad Cities, 45 minutes from Galesburg, Burlington, Muscatine. And we’re a destination spot that people should be coming to visit,” said Hagloch. “And that’s what we’ve been working on and striving to do for the last three or four years and this is just another piece of that puzzle.”
