Café Dâvina, inside the historic 1890 home-turned bed and breakfast.
“We definitely play off of the Italianate features of the property, the house, the grounds,” café owner Melody Brown told us.

Brown grew up in the home, which her parents purchased in the late 1990s. They run the bed and breakfast while she owns the most recent addition: the café.
“There’s been a lot of mixing up of the rooms,” Brown explained. “The coffee bar you see there used to be our dining room, and the dining space was our formal living room.”
Stopping by Café Dâvina means being treated to delicious coffee drinks, crepes, and sandwiches. We especially enjoyed their turkey, goat cheese, and avocado panini, and of course, the strawberry Nutella crepe.
Aside from the delicious food, the 1.5-acre Pinner House property is home to beautiful natural light, cozy dining areas, and an Italian-style wading pool. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind outdoor dining experience, check out the property’s magnolia tree, where diners can sit under the 100-year-old tree and enjoy the ambiance.
“My dad had the idea of putting a patio in there,” Brown described. “The tree is untouched, but we’ve built around the root system in it.”
For Brown, serving Suffolk and beyond from her childhood home has created countless cherished memories.
“We’re really grateful for the support we have from the community because we’re busy on weekdays and weekends,” she said. “We just really enjoy the community and serving them.”
According to the Pinner House’s website, John Pinner, who originally built the home, helped found the Suffolk Peanut Company, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
Café Dâvina is open Tuesday-Sunday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. It’s located at 231 Pinner Street in Suffolk.
