Nebraska chefs, Omaha restaurant named semifinalists for 2026 James Beard Awards
OMAHA, Neb. —
A downtown Omaha restaurant and two Nebraska chefs have been nominated for a prestigious national award.
David Utterback from Ota and Yoshitomo in Omaha and Zach Midgett from Casa Bovina in Lincoln were each named semifinalists for Best Chef: Midwest.
Utterback was named a finalist for the award in 2025.
There were 20 semifinalists announced for the award, which includes chefs in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Le Bouillon was named as a semifinalist for Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program.
The finalists will be announced March 31 and the winners will be named at an award ceremony in Chicago on June 15.
The awards, which started in 1990, recognize “exceptional talent in the culinary and food media industries, as well as a demonstrated commitment to racial and gender equity, community, sustainability, and a culture where all can thrive.”
